Liverpool full back Trent-Alexander Arnold, believes he’s got probably just fourteen more chances to win the premier league title with Liverpool as he’s all but set to land his hands on the first premier league of his career after raising the champions league last season.
Speaking to Mr. Potter, the full back explained his calculations recalling a talk with Liverpool’s academy director, Alex Inglethorpe.
” It was when I was around 18 and he asked me ‘ when do you want to retire ? Maybe when you’re around 34 or 35.’ That’s 17 years . I answered. “so, you’ve got 17 attempts to win the premier league, champions league or any other trophy. Trent continued
”As much as you think that’s a long time, the reality is you get only 17 tries and there will be failure, which is natural and will reduce that number.”
”This season we’re about to win the premier league, so I’m already thinking I’ve only got 14 more chances. Even though you can play hundred of games, the fact is you only get a few attempts at silverware. I really pour everything into each season and focus on the here and now.
“I know that if you get into that relentless habit, with a great team, a great manager and a great support structure, the chances will automatically be maximized.”
Trent-Arnold made his Liverpool debut in October 2016. The first season ended up in disappointment as the lost to Real Madrid with 3 goals to 1 in the champions league final in Kyiv but it became a success story in the following campaign as they were crowned European champions in Madrid after beating Tottenham in the final.
This season, although they’ve already been knocked out of the champions league by the Spanish side Atletico Madrid after beating the Reds home and away- but Liverpool already won the UEFA super cup and club world cup. Now, they are on course to the premier league trophy, for Trent, it will be his first top flight title.
