Former Barcelona french defender Jeremy Mathieu has quit playing football due to a sustained foot injury. The 36 year old who has played for several clubs including Sochaux where he started as a youth player until he moved to Tolouse in 2005, then to Valencia in 2009 where he had 126 La Liga appearances for Los Che before moving to Barcelona in 2014. He was a regular for La Blaugrana in their two LA LIga title wins in 2015 and 2016 and also in the champions league until he had to move to portuguese side sporting lisbon as a free agent in 2017. And despite being 33 a at then, he still managed to cement a place as a starter, winning two Portuguese Cups in 2017 and 2018. The ex-french international is said to have sustained a serious knee injury which forced him to hang his boot.
