Fc Barcelona dropped more points as the La Liga title now seems unsure for them.
Yesterday at Balaidos where the Catalan side thought they had everything under control, Celta de vigo’s Iago Aspas’ late free kick saw them draw 2 – 2 at the 88th minute as Barcelona has been leading 2 – 1 with both goals by Luis Suarez and Assists by Messi at the 20th and 68th minutes.
The Blaugrana’s away form has been a problem all season long and this time, even worse that the players themselves are getting worried. and seek answers for it- from their coaching staff probably.
”Away from home,we’re dropping important points that we didn’t usually drop in other seasons ” Luis Suarez tells news men in Vigo during a post match interview.
” I think that’s why the coaches are there, to analyze these kind of situations. We’re there to do our best on the pitch.”
The statement is obviously directed to head coach Quique Setien and his coaching team.
Dropping points in stadiums like Balaidos, for the catalan sides, is nothing new as most times, they either draw or even lose the matches. And Quique Setien wasn’t technical enough to stop that from happening even though until the 81st minute,it all looks like Barcelona already got it all wrapped up.
Since the resumption of La Liga, Barcelona have dropped at least 4 points after beating Mallorca on their home ground comfortably, they drew against Sevilla, struggled to win Athletic Bilbao and the draw against Celta Vigo made have them surrender their lead at the top of the table to bitter rivals Real Madrid who looked more determined to win it after three years of Barcelona winning it consecutively.
Barcelona’s next away match will be against the yellow submarines, Villareal next weekend.
Javi Calleja’s side who is also fighting for the champions league sits on the sixth place on the La Liga table and have only lost three times on home ground, Estadio de la Ceramica all season.
Real Valladolid and Alaves are Barcelona’s other away fixtures before the end of the season.
The Blaugrana have taken just 23 points from possible 48 away from the Camp Nou. A record which show drastic step back of the Spanish giants.
In their 16 away matches, they’ve won six, drawn five and lost five this season which is a total opposite from last season where they picked up 39 points on the road- more than any other team in La Liga Santander.
For now, Barcelona tops the table with just one point with Real Madrid yet to play their match away against RCD Espanyol on Sunday. Los Blancos have won five more points away from home than Barcelona this season.
